A racing game from Microsoft has references in the app package that it is aimed at ‘Andromeda OS’. Microsoft has not yet announced an operating system with that name and it is unknown what exactly it is.

Windows Central points out that the game’s package, Miami Street, contains references to Andromeda OS. This is an operating system that has also been rumored for some time and that would be intended for a foldable tablet with calling function and stylus, which Microsoft may want to release under the Surface name and internally known as ‘Andromeda’.

Twitter user WalkingCat discovered code in the Windows 10 SDK last week, also mentioning ‘Andromeda OS’ and a ‘Factory OS Andromeda Device’. The OS would support x86 and ARM, but the Andromeda device would have an ARM soc.

Microsoft released the game last week without much publicity. The game is being developed by Electric Square, which has announced that it will continue to develop Miami Street in the coming months. The game is therefore available to download from the Microsoft Store in only a few regions.

On the Reset Era forum, where the release is discussed, members refer to previous rumors of a collaboration between Microsoft and Electric Square that involved a karting game. The members note that Miami Street is more like a mobile game with its touch-based controls.
