The Xbox One has received a new user interface. According to Microsoft, the new ui should feel smoother and favorite items should be accessible with fewer actions. The interface has been in the test phase for about half a year.

The tabs on the Xbox One home screen are gone. There is no longer any horizontal scrolling with large strokes. Instead, rows can now be found in the home screen, similar to how Android TV works. These start with a row of the most used items on the Xbox One, followed by rows for Pins, Mixer, the Store, Community, and games. Under Pins, manually selected favorite items can be placed.

In addition, there is now support for animated GIF images in conversations with friends on the console itself. This was already there within the Xbox app for iOS, Android and Windows 10. There is also the possibility to move the small pop-ups for notifications to another part of the screen. Finally, it should be clearer within the libraries for apps & games whether it is a trial version, a demo or a full version.

The update has version number 10.0.18363.9135 and is now made available to all users. The update is coming to Xbox One, One S, and One X. Windows Central released a short video earlier this month demonstrating the beta of the update.
