Microsoft is working on extensions for Android version Edge

Microsoft is working on support for extensions in the Android version of the Edge browser, a developer discovered. The functionality is included in the Canary test version of the browser. Microsoft itself has not said anything about it yet.

The extensions have a beta label and a place in the menu, as shown by screenshots from Leopeva64. The developer has often found unannounced features in test versions of browsers. Extensions have been in the desktop version of the browser for some time, but so far not in the mobile version. Other browsers for Android, such as Firefox, have long supported extensions.

There is a chance that Microsoft is working on a revised version of Edge for iOS at the same time. Next month, the European DMA law will come into effect, which obliges Apple to allow browsers with other browser engines on iOS. Until now, browsers on iOS were only skins over Safari, but the new law makes support for extensions on iOS possible.
