Logitech firmware update blocks local access to the Harmony Hub

The latest firmware update for the Logitech Harmony Hub makes the device inaccessible over the local network. This is reported on various forums. It is not yet clear whether Logitech has intentionally removed the functionality or whether it is a bug.

With Logitech’s Harmony Hub, a smartphone or tablet can be used as a universal remote for a variety of home entertainment and intelligent home devices. Using an API, the device can be controlled via a local network, but since the last firmware update, 4.15.206, this no longer appears to work. In theory, that could penalize users of a Harmony Hub. If at some point Logitech decides to no longer support the device, for example by unplugging the servers, that would immediately make the device completely unusable.

In a forum on Reddit.com, users are advised not to upgrade their Harmony Hub to the latest software for the time being, disable the automatic update feature and restore the firmware to the previous version: 4.15.201. The device can then be accessed via the local network as usual. Logitech has not yet responded to the issues caused by the update.
