LineageOS 18.1 based on Android 11 comes out

The community around custom rom LineageOS has released version 18.1 of its firmware for sixty devices. This is the first version based on the Android 11 released last year. Version 18.1 follows 17.1, which appeared exactly one year ago.

There are about sixty devices compatible with the new version, according to the changelog. In addition, the OnePlus 8 phones are new, in addition to the Google Pixel 4a, 4a 5G and Pixel 5. The other phones are already compatible with LineageOS 17.1 based on Android 10.

New in LineageOS 18.1 include a dark mode for all apps and the ability to upgrade recovery along with the OS. Seedvault has also been added as an option to create backups in the settings menu.

Version 18.1 is the first based on Android 11. LineageOS 17.1 based on Android 10 came out exactly a year ago. LineageOS is the most famous custom rom for Android phones. Users can thus replace the original firmware from the manufacturer.
