LG Electronics CEO Qiao Yujin has said his company will not stop making smartphones because he believes the products of some of LG’s other divisions are smartphone related.

According to Qiao Yujin, this includes the business units that make products for cars and household appliances, GizChina writes. He reports that the products of these parts are “smartphone related”; for that reason, according to the CEO, LG has not considered exiting the smartphone sector. He states that LG is in the second year of a restructuring of the smartphone branch and that this operation will continue until next year.

LG recently published its most recent quarterly figures, which showed that the company delivered 16 percent fewer smartphones in the fourth quarter of last year. That was the main reason for the company’s significantly lower profit. The mobile division has been a concern for LG for many years, unlike parts that make vehicle components and home appliances. This concerns infotainment systems for cars, washing machines and refrigerators. The parts that make these products run relatively well, unlike the LG part that makes smartphones.
