Ming-Chi Kuo claims, based on anonymous sources, that Apple will give the iPhone 16 series an improved microphone. The analyst says that the company is making this decision to facilitate better interaction between the user and smart assistants such as Siri.

It’s alright according to Kuo for a ‘significant upgrade in the microphone specifications’ of the iPhone 16 devices compared to the previous generation of iPhones. The usually well-informed leaker reports that the microphones should, among other things, have better waterproofing and an improved signal-to-noise ratio. With the improved microphones, interaction with Siri should function better, according to the source. He underlines that Apple will mention AI applications of the iPhone 16 prominently in marketing materials.

Kuo also writes that the companies ACC and GoerTek supply the microphones for the iPhone 15 and will also do so for the iPhone 16. The new microphones would be 100 to 150 percent more expensive. The iPhone 16 series is expected to be launched in September 2024.
