Developer KT Racing is working on Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown under the care of publisher Nacon. It is a new game in the Test Drive Unlimited series, the first two parts of which appeared in 2006 and 2010.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, like the previous games in the series, is set in a large open world on a “luxury island” recreated on a 1:1 scale. The developer has not yet shown any gameplay footage, only a short teaser has been shown. KT Racing makes the game, which is also the developer behind the WRC games.

The game was announced at an event hosted by publisher Nacon. There, the makers say that players get a lot of freedoms and that players can progress in the game in their own way. The ‘dna’ of the old Test Drive Unlimited games has been kept, but new game modes are added to make the game more modern, according to the developers.

KT Racing will use WRC’s physics engine for the new TDU game. This allows racing on different surfaces to be simulated. Details about cars are not yet available, but according to the developers, many recognizable cars from well-known brands will come into play. When Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown will be released has not yet been announced. The racing game has been worked on for ‘several months’ so far. The game already has a page on Steam.

Test Drive Unlimited and Test Drive Unlimited 2 are racing games from 2006 and 2010, developed by Eden Games and published by Atari. The racing games were known for their large open game world. The original Test Drive series is much older, racing games have appeared in it since 1987.
