LG plans to release an OLED TV with a screen diagonal of 97 inches next year, reports Korea Bizwire. According to the site, LG would also consider introducing even larger models to the market.

According to Korea Bizwire, LG is expected to launch a 97-inch OLED television in 2022, after LG Display announced plans to release 97-inch panels at an international forum. The site does not provide further details on this, but the claim is that LG is considering even releasing 100″ TVs to compete in the market for extra-large TVs. TV manufacturers would see this as a growth market. Currently, 83 inches is the largest size in terms of LG’s OLED TVs with 4k resolution and 88″ for an 8k model.

Samsung is said to be planning to unveil a 99″ LCD TV with micro LEDs this year, followed by 88″ and 76″ models. These releases would follow the unveiling of a 110″ TV with micro LEDs late last year. That model became available in early 2021 and has a 4k resolution. In microLED TVs, the RGB pixels consist of individual microLEDs, which makes it difficult to come up with smaller sizes and the production costs are high.
