Kioxia has started producing its latest Exceria Plus G2 microSDXC card. According to the manufacturer, it will be the first microSDXC card on the market with this storage capacity. The first tickets are expected to be available for purchase from the first quarter of 2024.

Kioxia reported Wednesday that the higher storage capacity is made possible by the use of BiCS Flash-3D memory and a self-designed controller. Although the SDXC specification of the SD Association has long supported memory cards up to 2TB, such a card had not yet appeared on the market, the manufacturer states. Kioxia has stacked sixteen 1Tbit dies of 3D flash memory, making it possible to stay within the 0.8mm specifications.

The Exceria Plus G2 2TB has a maximum read speed of 100MB/s and a write speed of 90MB/s. Kioxia says that users can, among other things, store 41 hours of video material on the card. The card is also suitable for smartphones and gaming handhelds.
