Found a reference to a new soc in a beta of iOS 14.5. It would be the A14X and it would be related to the M1 soc. Apple is rumored to be introducing new iPad Pro models next month.

The code of the iOS beta contains a reference to a GPU of a chip code-named 13G. According to information from 9to5mac and previous naming schemes, it can be deduced that it is the A14X. That would be a variant of the A14 Bionic from the iPhone 12 models. Apple normally puts the X variants in iPad Pros.

9to5mac concludes after its own research that the A14X is based on the T8103, which is the code name of the M1 soc that Apple puts in its Macs. The site says this matches a rumor from Bloomberg, which talks about new iPad Pro models with an improved processor, which is “similar to the M1 soc.”

According to 9to5mac, new iPads codenamed J517, J518, J522 and J523 are on the way. The presence of the reference in the iOS 14.5 beta could indicate a rapid introduction of new iPad Pro models. According to previous rumors, they will be announced in April and they will also receive a Thunderbolt connection and improved cameras in addition to a new soc. The 12.9″ model would get a mini LED screen.
