Apple has released iOS 11.2 as a public beta. The software seems primarily intended to prepare iOS devices for the release of AirPlay 2 and the upcoming speaker HomePod. The public beta will be released a day after 11.1 came out in a stable version.

Since it is a public beta, all users can install it by enrolling the device at beta.apple.com. The 11.2 developer beta was released Monday. In addition to the preparation for AirPlay 2 and the HomePod, there are still some minor fixes in this firmware, writes 9to5 Mac.

The public beta does not mean that iOS 11.2 will be released soon. With iOS 11.1, that took more than a month after the release of the first test version. In addition to a public beta of the new iOS versions, a public beta of tvOS 11.2 was also released.
