A render published on a Chinese social network is said to show the successor to the Huawei Ascend P6 for the first time. The P7 would be slightly thicker than its predecessor and have a screen with a diagonal of 5 “.

A well-known Chinese tech blogger posted a render on his Weibo account that shows the phone in four colors. The phone shown appears to have speakers above and below the screen, just like the HTC One. Based on the render, it can be deduced that the phone is around 143x65mm in size, if the rumor is true that it is a 5″ screen; especially the edges on the side are thin for a smartphone. Because there is relatively much space on the the top and bottom of the screen makes the device look long.

The render also shows a custom skin that Huawei puts over Android. Huawei has adapted the custom rom Miui and the screenshot mainly shows new icons, although it is unclear whether functionality will also be added. The Ascend P7 would have a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera for ‘selfie videos’, according to an internal document published earlier online.

Huawei is expected to present its Ascend P7 at the Mobile World Congress telecom fair. That fair will take place next week in Barcelona.
