Several Hyundai and KIA cars, including EVs, will get integration with Samsung’s SmartThings. This allows owners to, among other things, access various smart home functions from their car and control their car from their home.

The collaboration between Hyundai Motor Group and Samsung was announced on Wednesday. The companies say they want to “develop Home-to-Car and Car-to-Home services for Hyundai and Kia’s connected cars, including EVs.” For example, it should be possible to turn on the car’s air conditioning from home or to see the status of the battery via the smart TV. And from the car it must be possible to control the lights or sun blinds in the house, for example.

Furthermore, it is possible to set a routine in which the car can also be taken along. In a so-called morning routine, the user can choose that, in addition to opening the curtains and ringing the alarm clock, the heating in the car is already turned on.

It is not yet known which specific car models will get SmartThings integration or when the feature will be made available.
