Hyperkin is working on a new controller based on the 2001 Xbox Controller S. The controller will feature Hall Effect joysticks and can be used with Xbox One consoles, Xbox Series consoles, and PCs running Windows 10 and 11.

According to the editors of The Verge Hyperkin has received an official license from Microsoft to make the controller. The gaming hardware maker is also said to have added an extra Share button, a USB-C port and a 3.5mm jack to the device. The controller will be called DuchesS and was spotted at CES in black and white. It is not clear when the controller will appear on the market and how much the device will cost.

This is not the first time that Hyperkin has relaunched an old Xbox controller. In 2017, the manufacturer released the original Xbox controller for Xbox One and Windows 10. That original controller was nicknamed The Duke and was also certified. In 2022, Hyperkin released a new version of the Xbox 360 controller. This device was re-licensed by Microsoft and also had additional buttons, including a new Share button, Menu button and View button.

The Xbox Controller S was a game controller that from the year 2002 shipped with Xbox gaming consoles in the United States. The European market followed in 2003. The controller was already available on the Japanese market in 2001. The Xbox Controller S was smaller and lighter than the original Xbox controller.
