HP launches business Android tablets with 4:3 aspect ratio and ‘Duet Pen’

HP has announced a range of new Android tablets for the business market, including the Pro Slate 8 and the Pro Slate 12. These are tablets with 8″ and 12″ screens, respectively, with a 4:3 aspect ratio. HP supplies them with a pen that writes notes on paper on the screen.

The Pro Slate 8 has a 7.9″ screen with a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels and Cornings Gorilla Glass of the fourth generation. The Pro Slate 12 has to make do with its 12.3″ screen with a resolution of 1600×1200 pixels. HP ships Android 4.4 with the tablets and the processor in both cases is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core.

HP also supplies Qualcomms Snapdragon Digital Pen, under the name Duet Pen. This pen technology uses ultrasonic vibrations to display text and drawings created on paper on the tablet’s screen. Two ultrasonic transmitters in the pen indicate the position and axis of rotation and microphones in the tablet receive the information, after which the display of the pen is determined via triangulation.

The Pro Slate 8 and 12 will arrive in the Benelux in February with starting prices of 359 and 499 euros.

At the same time, HP is introducing the Pro Tablet 408: a Windows tablet with an 8-inch screen, Atom processor running at 1.33GHz and a thickness of 9mm. This model has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels, 2GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of storage memory. HP Pro Tablet 408 G1 is expected to be available in February with a starting price of 279 euros.

HP will also introduce the Elite x2 1011. This is a tablet with a detachable keyboard, which combines an 11.6″ screen with a Core m processor. The resolution is 1366×768 or 1920×1080 pixels. The model should distinguish itself, among other things. with support for WiGig, bringing wireless connection to docking stations within reach.The Elite x2 1011 starting price is 999 euros and the hybrid will be available in February,

Some other business systems mentioned in the press release are also released in the Benelux. The HP ElitePad 1000 G2 will cost 1369 euros, and the HP Pro Slate 10 EE and HP Pro Tablet 10 EE will have suggested retail prices of 289 and 329 euros respectively.
