Soon the first smartphone under the Nokia brand will be on the market for a long time. The company HMD, which owns the rights to the Nokia brand, releases the device with the name Nokia 6 in China. The smartphone has a 5.5-inch screen and a Snapdragon 430 processor.

HMD announced this on Sunday. The choice to release the first Nokia smartphone, since the acquisition of the brand name, in China has to do with the large smartphone market in that country. According to HMD, more smartphones should be released in the first part of 2017, but no details have been announced yet. A European release of new Nokia smartphones will probably depend on the sales results in China.

The Nokia 6 has an aluminum housing with a screen with a diagonal of 5.5 “. In that housing a Snapdragon 430 processor is built, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage memory. For photos, a 16-megapixel camera is built in on the back. The software is based on Android Nougat, but a demonstration video that has been put online shows that the interface has been modified considerably.Converted, the Nokia 6 will cost about 219 euros in China.

HMD announced last year that it has acquired the rights to the Nokia brand name from Microsoft. The latter did not succeed in achieving success with the brand after the acquisition of Nokia, as a result of which no smartphones have been marketed under the Nokia brand name for quite some time. HMD, a company mainly made up of former Nokia and Microsoft executives, thinks it can achieve more success. At the end of last year, HMD already announced two Nokia phones, but those were not smartphones.
