The Hemingwrite company is going to market a typewriter of the same name that will have a mechanical keyboard, e-ink screen and access to cloud storage services. Sufficient money was raised for the production in a short time via a crowdfunding campaign.

Hemingwrite has recently started raising sufficient funding through a Kickstarter campaign and has already raised enough money to start production after two days. An amount of 250,000 dollars was needed, which converted to just over 200,000 euros. Buyers are expected to receive their typewriters in September. The Hemingwrite costs $399, which is roughly $311, but early bird versions are available at a discount. After the Kickstarter campaign, the price will increase by another $100.

The device developed by Hemingwrite combines a conventional, old-fashioned typewriter with modern technology: for example, an e-ink screen is built in to display the output and typed documents can be synchronized with cloud storage services. Documents are automatically saved in Postbox, Hemingwrite’s online storage service: from there it is possible to create links with services such as Dropbox, Evernote and Google Docs. You can also print directly from the Hemingwrite.

The battery should last from one month to one and a half months on a single charge. The memory should be sufficient to store a million pages and the screen has a diagonal of 6″. The keyboard uses Cherry MX switches.

According to Hemingwrite, the typewriter has a simple interface, with easy control buttons. Because the device is only focused on writing, users only need to perform simple actions, according to Hemingwrite.
