Hackers also crack new version of DRM software Denuvo

A new version of the anti-piracy software Denuvo has fallen prey to hackers, who have managed to beat security in games. For example, a new version of Denuvo was included with the game 2Dark, after which hacking group CPY cracked it.

TorrentFreak reports this based on releases that have appeared online. Hacking group CPY put a cracked version of 2Dark online, in which Denuvo’s DRM software no longer functions. It took about a month after release for the security to be defeated by the hacking group. Incidentally, we are still working on releases of other games that work with the same DRM version. These include Will Nier Automata, Dead Rising 4, and Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition.

It is likely that now that the latest version of Denuvo has been cracked, these games will soon fall prey to CPY as well. That is a setback for the security company, which with the new version of the DRM software, with version 4, had expected to have an advantage over the hackers again. The fact that it took a month before the security was cracked indicates that this was not an easy task for CPY.

Hackers and Denuvo have a long history of cracking the DRM software, after which the maker kept coming up with a new version. For example, last summer the Denuvo-drm in Rise of the Tomb Raider was cracked. At the beginning of this year, we even managed to crack the security on Resident Evil 7 within a week. Hackers from the CPY group were also responsible for this.
