Google unveiled the Pixel 5a 5G on Tuesday. The phone is the successor in Google’s cheapest smartphone line and succeeds the Pixel 4a 5G. The smartphone has a 6.34-inch screen and a 4680mAh battery, the largest battery in a Pixel phone to date.

The smartphone was already indirectly confirmed by the tech giant in April in response to rumors that there would be no Pixel 5a. Now Google has the Pixel 5a 5G officially announced. The phone should be released in the United States on August 26 and will cost $ 449.

The Pixel 5a 5G has a 6.34″ OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels. As you would expect from a Pixel phone, the Pixel 5a 5G runs the latest version of Android 11. All of this is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor.

In addition to the larger screen, the 4680mAh battery is also striking. The battery is larger than in the more powerful Pixel 5 and Google claims that the battery should last at least a day. That does mean that the smartphone is slightly heavier than its predecessor. The Pixel 5a 5G weighs 183g versus the Pixel 4a 5G’s 168g.

On the front, the Pixel 5a 5G is equipped with an 8-megapixel camera. On the rear, the camera features a 12-megapixel primary camera and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. Which confirms the rumors from earlier this week.

Google will only release the Pixel 5a 5G in the United States and Japan. The Pixel devices are usually released by Google in only a few countries, but there is no question of a European release at all this time.

In addition to the Pixel 5a 5G, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are also yet to appear this year, with Google’s own Tensor soc. The two phones were announced by Google in early August and will be released in the fall of this year.
