The PlayStation 5 version of Rocket League will get a performance mode, which allows the game to be played at 120fps. The update will be released on August 18 for all Rocket League players on the PlayStation 5.

In a blog, PlayStation explains the difference between the quality and performance mode. Rocket League players on the PlayStation 5 can choose one of two modes. In quality mode, Rocket League is shown in 4k, provided the user’s screen supports this resolution. The game will run at 60fps with HDR.

From Friday, players can also opt for a performance mode. The render resolution is then reduced to 2688×1512 pixels and that is scaled up to 4k. The game will then run at 120fps with HDR. Both HDR and the higher frame rate require a display that supports this.

The new mode will be added with an update. This update also includes special Ratchet & Clank content exclusively for PlayStation players.
