Google has created a feature for its Pixel phones that alerts users to check their phone while walking. The function of Digital Wellbeing should mean that people do not allow themselves to be distracted on the street.

The function is called Heads Up and is in the beta of Digital Wellbeing, reports XDA-Developers. the screenshots come from twitterer Jay Kamat. The feature requests location and physical activity access to detect that the user is walking and appears to be walking at a walking pace. If the software detects that the user is working with the phone, a notification will appear.

The function is part of Digital Wellbeing, which can be found in the Settings menu. It contains options to use the smartphone in a healthier way. Settings around screen time per app can also be found there.

Google hasn’t announced the feature yet. Many of the software search giant’s announcements invariably take place at developer conference I/O. It will be available online next month.
