Google has announced an update to Fast Pair so that Bluetooth headsets can be paired quickly and easily with all Android devices connected to a Google Account. The feature is also coming to Chromebooks.

With the update, a user can immediately pair their Bluetooth headset and other accessories, such as speakers, that support the function with all Android devices that are connected with a Google Account. This applies to devices with Android version 6.0 or later. Support for Chromebooks will follow next year.

In addition, Google announces that more headsets with support are on the way. It concerns products from Bose, Jaybird and Anker SoundCore. Google announced Fast Pair a year ago. Fast Pair is a Nearby service and gives the user a notification with an image and name of the product, asking if a link should be established.

To increase adoption, Google is working with Qualcomm, among others, so that support for Fast Pair is available in SDKs. As more and more smartphone manufacturers omit the 3.5mm audio connection on their models, the use of Bluetooth headsets is expected to increase.
