Google lets Plus users merge accounts with new tool
Google has released a tool that allows users of the Plus network to merge different Google accounts. After merging, contacts will only see the details of one account.
The tool aims to ensure that users with different Google accounts have all their contacts in one place. According to Google, one account can be set as the main account, to which all contacts on the Plus network are forwarded. Anyone who is in the Circles of the exported account will only see the content of the main account in this way. The tool is part of Google Takeout, which allows users to export their data.
According to Google, contacts from one account are linked to another account, but it is not possible to do the same with shared content such as status updates and photos. Profile information is also not linked.
Users who choose to make an account part of another account on the Plus network must wait seven days for the transfer to begin. According to Google, the process itself can take 48 hours, during which time no status updates can be posted. Also, the process cannot be interrupted and the tool should not be used more than once every six months.
