LG, JBL, Sony and Lenovo will release so-called smart displays with Google Assistant this year. The devices work on the basis of voice control or touchscreen and can be used to display notifications or photos and videos.

According to Google, a ‘smart display’ is a new type of device with a screen and integrated with Google Assistant. Such a device could be used in the living room to visually display the results of searches. In addition, the screen can assist the user in making video calls, showing YouTube video and displaying images from Google Photo.

The smart screens work hand in hand with smartphones, for example to provide directions. In addition, Google provides applications for the kitchen, to request recipes, and to monitor the baby’s room. Google has not yet announced an introduction date and price. The company does report that JBL, Lenovo, Sony and LG will come with these types of devices “later this year”.
