Google temporarily blocks all integrations of Xiaomi equipment with Nest Hub and Google Assistant. The search giant did so after a post appeared on reddit in which a user reported seeing Xiaomi camera images of others on his Google device.

Google has confirmed to Android Police that it is aware of the issue, saying that all Xiaomi Mi Home device integrations with Google have been temporarily suspended pending resolution. Google is working with the Chinese Xiaomi on a fix.

On Thursday, a user posted on reddit showing that he is shown random camera images on his Google Nest Hub when trying to view the stream from his Xiaomi security camera. The person uses the Xiaomi Mijia 1080p Smart IP Security Camera, which can be paired with Google devices via the Xiaomi Mi Home. The user emphasized that he purchased both the camera and the Nest Hub new.

It is not yet clear what caused the privacy breach and since when it was present. It is also not known with which combinations of devices it can occur. As far as we know, the appearance of random images has only been reported on the Nest Hub in combination with the respective Xiaomi camera.
