GGD also disables the print function of the ICT system in the fight against data theft

The GGD has turned off the so-called print function in its HPZone ICT system. The GGD had already disabled another way of exporting personal data, but this way was still available.

Following an investigation by RTL tech journalist Daniël Verlaan, it came to light that the GGD, which has many new employees to conduct source and contact investigations, did not block the export of personal data. This data was offered for sale on the internet and can be used in identity fraud. There have been internal warnings about this since last summer.

When the case became public about a week ago, the GGD quickly shut down the export function, but on Friday it turned out that the print function was still working. This means that data can still be easily saved in the form of a PDF. On Saturday evening, Nieuwsuur reported that that function has now also been closed.

The organization also reports on the GGD site that it is working on adjusting ‘all other export options’, so there may still be opportunities for GGD employees to export and trade personal data.
