Game publisher Bandai Namco reports that the Dark Souls franchise has sold more than 27 million copies. Of those, 10 million are copies of Dark Souls III, the newest game in the franchise, which came out in 2016.

Bandai Namco will announce the numbers of 27 million Dark Souls games and 10 million Dark Souls III copies on Tuesday. Since the announcement of Elden Ring nearly a year ago, an additional two million units of the Dark Souls franchise have been sold. In 2015, the publisher announced that the first two games had sold 8.5 million times. The announcements exclude related game franchises from developer FromSoftware: Demon’s Souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Bloodborne.

At E3 last year, FromSoft’s new game, Elden Ring, was announced. Not much is known about this game yet, not even a release date. However, a trailer has been shown, it is known that A Song of Ice and Fire author George RR Martin is connected to the project and it is clear that the game will be released for PCs, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
