At the European level, France and Germany are urging support for start-up technology companies. Among other things, these start-ups should be able to obtain capital more easily.

France and Germany are urging the European Innovation Council to increase support for ambitious tech start-ups. The call was presented to European leaders last week. According to the countries, a concerted approach is needed to improve the investment climate and regulation so that ‘breakthrough innovations’ can come to the market and companies in the field of ‘disruptive technology’ can grow.

The countries want to focus, among other things, on academic tech projects and on projects with the necessary risk, as a result of which they are now missing out on investments. A network should be created to bring scientific breakthroughs to the market and to which European member states can join. When it comes to start-ups, Europe is losing out to the US and China. According to Reuters, which publishes on the appeal from France and Germany, Europe’s risk-averse culture is often cited as the reason that start-ups are less likely to succeed.
