Foxconn, TSMC and Corning have pledged to make Apple products with clean energy. The American manufacturer had insisted on this. Dozens of other suppliers will do the same.

Pegatron, another manufacturer that makes Apple products, has also promised to work with renewable energy, Apple says. It is unknown how exactly those manufacturers will shape this and Apple will not say whether there will be consequences for breaking this agreement.

These include Foxconn and Pegatron, some of Apple’s major suppliers. TSMC makes the Apple A-socs for the American manufacturer, among other things, while Corning makes the Gorilla Glass that is on many devices.

In recent years, Apple has tried to run its own services and offices on sustainable energy, while Apple Stores are already doing that. In addition, the manufacturer has robots that can take apart old iPhones for recycling. On the other hand, Apple also releases products that are not or hardly recyclable, such as Airpods.

Update, Friday: As Dancing_Animal points out, all Apple Stores already run on renewable energy, which was wrong in the article.
