Firmware update: Sony PlayStation Vita 2.60

Sony has released new firmware for its portable game console, the PlayStation Vita. The firmware carries version number 2.60 and downloading is preferably done from the menu of the device itself. New in this release includes access to PlayStation Plus and it is possible to directly play media from an externally connected device, without having to copy it to the Vita itself first. PlayStation Network

  • You now have access to [PlayStation Plus] via the LiveArea screen in each game, making it easier to upload and download your saved data.
    Note: You need a PlayStation Plus subscription to use this feature.

Music video

  • You can now play content that you have stored on a connected device, such as a PlayStation 3 system or a computer, without first copying the content to your PS Vita.
  • Select the connected device from the category list and then tap the content to play it right away.
  • The assistant content manager for PlayStation on your computer must be updated to the latest version to use this feature.

Settings

  • [Instellingen Bluetooth-apparaat] has been moved from the settings under [Netwerk] to the settings under the new [Apparaten].

Different

  • You can now adjust the network features in the menu that appears when you press and hold the PS button. In the menu that appears, tap the feature you want to turn on or off.

Home screen

  • You can now use the PS Vita system buttons to customize the home screen. When you press a button on the PS Vita system on the home screen, the cursor will appear on the screen. Enter edit mode by pressing the Triangle key when the cursor is displayed.

games

  • The way the menu is displayed in PSP game software and PlayStation format software has changed. When a game is running, press and hold the PS button to bring up the menu.

Trophies

  • You can now choose which games you want to share the trophy information for.
  • Tap on [PlayStationNetwork] , then tap the game whose settings you want to adjust. Go to [Opties] > [Privacy-instellingen] > [Trofeeën voor deze game weergeven] to put a checkmark to enable this setting.

Browser

  • You can now also adjust playback settings (for example, for the screen messages and subtitles) while watching a streaming video on a web page. To do this, go to [Opties] > [Instellingen] during playback.

content manager

  • The way to adjust the settings for automatic upload of saved data has been changed. You can change the settings that were previously adjusted in the [Informatiescherm] for saved data now adjust via [Selecteer opgeslagen data] below [Content manager] > [Start] > [Online opslag] > [Automatisch uploaden van opgeslagen data]. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required for this feature.

Settings

  • [Trofeeën weergeven] has been added under [PlayStationNetwork] > [Privacy-instellingen] and you can now specify who can see the information about trophies you have earned.

  • Do not download or install the update with data different from the official update data provided online or on a PS Vita card by Sony Computer Entertainment. Do not download or install updates in ways other than those described in the system documentation or on this website.
