Firmware update: Sony PlayStation 3 3.01

Spread the love

Sony released version 3.00 of the firmware for the PlayStation 3 not too long ago. In that firmware, the XrossMediaBar has been overhauled. For example, the Information Board has been replaced by What’s New. This includes snapshots of the last three games played, so you can pick up right where you left off. It has also been made easier to consult the PlayStation Store. However, version 3.00 was found to contain an issue causing the game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune to crash. Version 3.01 has now been released to fix that:

The main features in version 3.01 of the system software

  • This version of the system software fixes a bug in version 3.00 of the system software that caused the PS3 system to freeze while playing the PlayStation 3 game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune™.

Remark:

  • This system software update includes all the features of the previous versions.
  • The new system software will save all settings previously entered in the PlayStation 3 system.
  • Depending on the software title, you may not be able to play the content until you install the new software.
  • Do not update with data other than the official update data provided by Sony Computer Entertainment over a network or on a disc. Do not update in any way other than as described in the product documentation or on this website. If an update is performed with data from another source, by any other means, or with a PS3 system that has been altered or edited in any way, the PS3 system may not function properly and the official update data may not be able to be installed. These actions may void the warranty of the PS3 system and affect your ability to use Sony Computer Entertainment’s warranty and repair services.
