Firmware update: Apple MacBook Pro SMC update 1.3

Apple has released a new version of the System Management Control for the MacBook Pro notebook released. The update has been given version number 1.3 and is only intended for a limited number of models, mainly for MacBook Pros built after early 2008. According to the release notes, SMC 1.3 only adjusts the fan speed if the laptop has a lot of work to do:

About MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update 1.3

This SMC Firmware update adjusts the fan behavior in MacBook Pro systems (15-inch and 17-inch) when running under high workload conditions.

The updater application will be installed in the /Applications/Utilities folder and will launch automatically. Please follow the instructions in the updater application to complete the update process.
