Firefox Preview Nightly gets support for three new add-ons

Firefox’s Nightly Preview on Android has added support for new add-ons: Decentraleyes, Privacy Possum, and YouTube High Definition. These extensions will therefore also come to the non-Nightly of the app in a reasonable period of time.

Decentraleyes complements ad blockers that try to sideline content delivery networks by using ‘local files’. Privacy Possum is an alternative to Privacy Badger from a former developer of Badger. He thought the privacy gain there was too small and therefore set to work with his own version. YouTube High Definition offers additional options regarding quality, volume, layout, autoplay and the like.

Add-ons for Firefox Preview that have been available for some time are uBlock Origin, HTTPS Everywhere, Privacy Badger, Dark Reader, NoScript and Search By Image.

Firefox Preview is a rebuild of the Firefox browser on Android. In this case, that means that a lot of functions were gone with the introduction of Preview compared to the existing Android Firefox. A while back, extension support came back to this version, but actual extensions appear in small batches.

Recently version 5.2 of Firefox Preview was released. It introduced the automatic hiding of the URL bar, a new tab overview, support for voice search and a new new tab page. Firefox Preview should become Mozilla’s default Android browser later this year.
