Twitch Bans Popular, Contracted & Exclusive Streamer From Platform
One of the most popular streamers on Twitch, Dr. Disrespect, is gone from Twitch. In an email, the platform shows that he has broken the Twitch rules, but there is no clarity. The platform paid the streamer for Twitch exclusivity earlier this year.
Twitch announced a few days ago that it would take a stricter approach to sexual harassment on the platform, but it is not clear whether that has to do with Dr. Disrespect. Twitch told The Verge on the matter that the “standard process is that we take appropriate action when a streamer breaks our rules, regardless of their status within the community.”
According to The Verge, Dr. Disrespect in the platform’s top ten biggest streamers. In fact, in March of this year, so just three months ago, Dr. Disrespect an exclusive two-year contract with Twitch. For this, the man received what he says is a ‘life-changing amount’. It is not known whether or not part of that money should be refunded.
The streamer had 4.5 million followers, according to Twitch Tracker, which placed him in tenth place. On average, he attracted 27,000 viewers on his streams. His most recent stream was on Thursday. dr. Disrespect mainly played Battle Royales in its broadcasts.
