Ernie Hudson: ‘A new Ghostbusters game is definitely going to happen’

A new Ghostbusters game is in the works. That reports Ernie Hudson, who played Winston Zeddemore in the film franchise. The game appears to be in an early stage of development. The most recent major Ghostbusters game came out in 2009.

Ernie Hudson mentioned the game at the Celebrity Fan Fest in Texas, VideoGamesChronicle writes. “I just got an email because we’re working on a new game,” Hudson said. “They’re scheduling the shoot now and I’m not sure who’s going to be in it. Me and Danny Aykroyd, I think. I’m not sure if Billy Murray is going to join. So there’s going to be another video game.”

Hudson reports that he has provided input on the prototypes of his character in the game, saying that the development team would struggle to recreate his character in the game. The actor does not provide any further details about the game. It is also not yet known when the game will be released. “I don’t know when they’ll release it, but it’s definitely going to happen.”

The actor did not mention which studio is working on the Ghostbusters game, but it is believed that Friday the 13th developer Illfonic. Raphael Saadiq, the co-founder of Illfonic, already let slip in October that the studio is working on a Ghostbusters game, PCGamesN writes. Even then no details were mentioned.

The last major Ghostbusters game came out in 2009 for the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PCs, and Nintendo DS. A remaster of this was released in 2019. Also in 2011, a top-down shooter for PCs and consoles, called Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, was released. In 2016, another top-down shooter appeared in the franchise, which was poorly received by fans and media. In 2019 Ghostbusters DLC was released for Planet Coaster.
