Driver Update: Nvidia GeForce/Ion 331.93 Beta

Nvidia has released new beta GeForce/Ion drivers. The drivers are version number 331.93 and are suitable for Windows XP and higher, with separate downloads as usual for 32bit and 64bit environments. New in the 331 release is support for OpenGL 4.4 and HBAO+. The latter technique is an improvement of Ambient Occlusion, which is first used by the game Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist. Since 331.40 beta, the following improvements have been made:

• [GeForce TX 460][Team Fortress 2]: Light jitters and flickers during the game. [1226365]
• [GeForce GTX 260]: There is no audio over HDMI when the desktop is set to the 3DTV Play resolution. [960780]
• Firefox browser may crash while running Adobe flash videos. [1363639]
• With Windows AERO OFF, application windows are corrupted after rotating panscan clone displays. [1341434]
• [GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost][Monster Hunter Frontier]: There is display corruption when running the game demo. [1290613]
• [Notebook]: Hot key switching to LCD+HDMI clone mode may not work. [1265293]
• [Optimus]: DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 applications will not go to full-screen mode after several ALT+TAB switches. [1390009]
• [Optimus][Command & Conquer: Generals]: The game crashes when pressing Alt-Tab or minimizing or maximizing the window.[1377410]
• [3D Vision]: Games are forced into red/green stereoscopic 3D mode after upgrading the OS to Windows 8.1 [1355441]

• [OpenGL]: The driver doesn’t report an error if the GLSL geometry shader source does not declare the input or output primitive types. [951939]

• [SLI][GRID 2]: The minimum frame rate is lower in SLI mode than in single GPU mode when global illumination is enabled in the game. [1382620]
• [SLI][Surround]: The driver loses NvSmartMax functionality if installed over a Release 319 or older driver while Surround is enabled.[1364734] The NVIDIA driver component NvSmartMax allows the driver to maximize an application window to the center display, among other Surround features.
