Disney+ has 129.8 million subscribers, but is losing more

Disney+ added nearly 12 million subscribers worldwide in the past quarter and now has 129.8 million subscribers. However, the streaming service has made more losses in the past quarter, as marketing and content creation has become more expensive.

The number of 129.8 million subscribers is 37 percent more than a year earlier, Disney reports in its quarterly figures. This quarter, we added 10 percent more subscribers. A quarter earlier, the number of subscribers grew by 1.7 percent, the least strong increase to date. Netflix now has more than 222 million subscribers, up 8.2 million from a quarter earlier. Disney+ is growing faster than Netflix.

Revenue from all of Disney’s streaming services rose 34 percent to $4.7 billion. The loss grew 27 percent to $600 million. The Walt Disney Company made more loss with its streaming services, mainly due to Disney +. For example, production, programming, marketing and technology costs would be higher. This was offset somewhat by the increase in subscribers and Disney+ becoming more expensive in some markets.
