New Zealand’s cryptocurrency exchange Cryptopia reports being the victim of a hack that has led to ‘significant losses’. The exchange has been in maintenance mode since Tuesday, which means that users cannot access their credits.

Trading on the stock exchange has also been halted. Cryptopia has reported the break-in and theft to New Zealand’s police and high-tech crime unit. Pending the investigation, the team behind the exchange says it cannot provide any updates, reports on Twitter said.

An inventory by a Reddit user shows that equivalent to 11.4 million euros worth of Ethereum, Centrality and Daps has been funneled away, although it is not certain whether this concerns the theft or whether Cryptopia has tried to bring the crypto to safety in this way.

The New Zealand police say they are collaborating with partner organizations for the investigation, including those abroad. Police expect to provide an update on the investigation on Thursday.
