Chrome ends support for Windows XP, Vista, OS X 10.8 and older
With version 50, Google Chrome no longer supports Windows Vista, Windows XP, OS X Mountain Lion, and OS X Lion. The search giant announced a few months ago that it would stop supporting the older operating systems.
Chrome on desktop supports OS X from 10.9 Mavericks and Windows from version 7 with Chrome 50, Venturebeat reports. The search giant said in November last year that it would end support this month and has been showing a message to users of the older operating systems since January that the moment was approaching.
Initially, Google was supposed to stop releasing updates in April 2015, but that date was postponed several times. In all cases, except for Windows Vista, these are operating systems that no longer receive support from their maker.
In addition to stopping support, Google has also fixed bugs and added new features to Chrome 50. The most important of these is the support of payload in notifications, such as Mozilla has supported in Firefox for some time. Google previously said that Chrome pushes 350 million notifications per day.
