Chinese manufacturer LeEco announces 4k TVs with Android TV
Chinese hardware maker LeEco has shown four TVs and a set-top box with Android TV in the United States. The TVs all have a maximum resolution of 3840×2160 pixels with support for HDR images.
The cheapest model will be the Super4 X43 Pro, a TV with a 42.5″ screen. The more expensive ones have 55.4″, 65″ and 85″ screens, with LeEco claiming a contrast of 4000:1 and a response time of 8ms . The TVs have a 4k resolution and support HDR. Only the uMax 85 has a different panel, with a lower static contrast of 3000:1 and a dynamic contrast of 80,000:1. The response time is also lower at 6.5 ms.
The soc in all TVs is an Mstar 6A938, a chip with two Cortex A72 cores at 1.7GHz and two lower clocked Cortex A53 cores, assisted by a Mali T880MP3 GPU. LeEco has added a working memory of 3GB. The TV also contains 32GB of emmc 5.1 storage. The TVs run on Google’s Android TV platform.
The televisions have a USB 2.0 port, two USB 3.0 connections, three HDMI ports, a 1/8″ audio port that presumably also accepts 3.5 mm headsets, a VGA connection and an Ethernet port for wired connections. internet, bluetooth 4.1 and wifi-ac are also available for wireless connections.
The Super4 X43 costs at least $699 and that goes up to $4999 for the uMax 85, the most expensive model. In addition to the TVs, LeEco announced that it will start selling a set-top box, a bicycle and two smartphones in the United States. It is the first time that the Chinese manufacturer will offer its products in the United States. It is unknown when the hardware will be available in Europe.
