Chinese governments are no longer allowed to buy Apple products

The Chinese government agencies should no longer be allowed to purchase Apple products. This is reported by Bloomberg news agency. As a result, they are no longer allowed to purchase Macbooks and iPads because of ‘security’, presumably the fear of hacks from the American government.

The change was only recently implemented, Bloomberg claims. In June, the Apple hardware was still on the list of permitted purchases, in July the Macbooks and iPads had disappeared. This is claimed by anonymous sources who say they work for the Chinese government.

The Chinese government is likely to cite security concerns as the reason for removing Apple hardware from the list. Due to that removal, the American manufacturer probably sells less of its products in China. In addition, it is a signal to its own population that the hardware may not be safe. China has already banned Windows 8 on government computers.

Apple has not commented on the removal of the list, but has previously said it will not cooperate in opening back doors for secret services.
