Bose introduces QuietComfort Ultra headphones and earbuds
Bose introduces three new audio products, namely the QuietComfort Ultra, the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds and the QuietComfort Headphones. The headphones and wireless earplugs replace the current models in Bose’s range.
The QuietComfort Ultra headphones and earbuds feature spatial audio, which Bose has rebranded as ‘Immersive Audio’. The function consists of two options. With ‘Still’ the audio is, as it were, frozen and with ‘Motion’ the audio moves with the user’s head. The user’s head movements are detected by sensors incorporated into the audio devices. There is also noise reduction and a transparency mode.
Bose uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite for its QuietComfort Ultra headphones and earbuds. This enables support for aptX Adaptive, which enables lossless audio and low latency. The Ultra line-up also has Bluetooth 5.3
The Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones replace the Noise Canceling Headphones 700. The headphones have a suggested retail price of 500 euros and are available in black and ‘White Smoke’. When Immersive Audio is enabled, the headphones’ battery should last up to 18 hours. If the mode is disabled, this is according to Bose maximum 24 hours.
The QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds replace the QuietComfort Earbuds 2 that appeared last year. The wireless earplugs have a suggested retail price of 350 euros and are also available in black and white versions. The wireless earbuds offer 6 hours of battery life with Immersive Audio turned off. When the feature is enabled, the earplugs should last up to 4 hours. Bose also says that they offer improved call quality.
The audio manufacturer also releases the QuietComfort Headphones to replace the QuietComfort 45. These headphones also have noise cancellation, the level of which is now adjustable. Instead of Bluetooth 5.3, the headphones use Bluetooth 5.1. The Immersive Audio function of the Ultra models is also missing. The battery life is up to 24 hours after a full charging session. Bose releases the QuietComfort Headphones for a price of 400 euros.
Both the QuietComfort Ultra and QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds will be released in October. The QuietComfort Headphones will ship from September 21st.
