ASUS announces 42″ and 48″ OLED monitors, Acer comes with 48″ model

ASUS announces two OLED monitors in its ROG Swift series. It concerns the PG48UQ with a 48″ panel and the PG42UQ, of the 42″ format. Acer comes with a 48″ model. The monitors have a 4k resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

Both manufacturers aim their OLED monitors at gamers. ASUS is the first manufacturer to make a 42″ OLED monitor. LG announced the first 42″ OLED TV in the C2 series this week and ASUS is the only manufacturer to use this panel for a monitor for the time being.

According to ASUS, the Rog Swift OLED monitors can display 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. The screens have two HDMI 2.1 connections, two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort connection and a USB hub.

When the PG42UQ and PG48UQ will be released and what they will cost has not yet been announced. The monitors almost certainly use OLED panels from LG Display. LG OLED TVs in the 48 “format are for sale for amounts around 1000 euros.

Acer Predator CG48

Acer also announces an OLED monitor. This concerns the Predator CG48 with a 48 “panel. According to the manufacturer, that screen has a refresh rate of 138 Hz. Acer says that the 48 “oled monitor will be on the market in Europe in the third quarter for a suggested retail price of 2199 euros.

34″ QD OLED Monitor from Alienware

Alienware announced the first quantum dot OLED monitor earlier on Tuesday. This is a 34″ screen with a resolution of 3440×1400 pixels. This monitor uses a QD OLED panel from Samsung Display. This technique would make clearer images possible.
