An accessory that should make it possible to play games in augmented reality on the table has achieved its goal on Kickstarter. The company behind the device, Spatial Gaming, expects to ship the accessory in March next year.

At the time of writing, there are 205 backers for the campaign, who contributed a total of $25,000, but there are 28 days to go. With that, the goal has already been achieved and the company will try to take the device called Spatial into production.

The Spatial is a screen with controller and camera for playing games on tables in augmented reality. The idea is for players to see and influence the gameplay using physical objects on the screen. The Spatial has a dock for a smartphone, which provides the processing power to play the games.

The Spatial can only run games that are made for the system. According to the campaign page, games are already in development, including a Minecraft variant called HoloCraft and several multiplayer games with various themes.
