Apple’s WWDC developer conference will be held from June 22. The company previously announced that the annual event will not take place in physical form. Apple makes the multi-day event accessible on its own developer website and via its own app.

The Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off on June 22 and can be attended via the Apple Developer app and the Apple Developer website, which is free for developers. As usual, this online edition of the WWDC will run for about a week. Apple says it will announce more about the program and its components in the Apple Developer app in June. That information will also be published by email and on Apple’s Developer website.

In any case, there will be a so-called Swift Student Challenge, a competition for students who can create an interactive scene with the Swift Playgrounds app. Entries will be accepted until May 17th and may take no more than three minutes. The app is available for the iPad and Mac and revolves around the Swift programming language.

In the statement, Apple says nothing about the coronavirus as a reason for not having the annual event physically take place in Cupertino. When the company indicated in March that this edition would only take place in virtual form, it only said that it had to do with “the current health situation”.

Apple’s annual World Wide Developer Conference isn’t the only technology event that’s been canceled. Just under two months ago, Microsoft canceled its Build conference; this event will also go digital and can be attended for free on 19 and 20 May. In addition, Facebook and Google, respectively, have suspended developer conferences F8 and I/O, and are only holding them online.
