Apple says the 17.3 updates to iOS and iPadOS will be released sometime next week. The company has also shared the full release notes of the first update. iOS 17.3 includes the Stolen Device Protection feature and shared Apple Music playlists.

In a blog post in which Apple announces a Unity Bloom wallpaper, the company casually mentions that it will be released next week as part of iOS 17.3 and iPadOS 17.3, discovered MacRumors. At the same time has the company made the release candidate of the iPhone update available and also shared release notes.

Almost all of the features mentioned have already been announced previously. For example, the update includes the optional Stolen Device Protection feature. This makes Face ID or Touch ID mandatory to perform certain actions, making it more difficult to use a stolen iPhone, even if the thief has the passcode.

Apple also confirms that the shared playlists in Apple Music will be available with this update. This allows different users to manage the same playlist and, for example, add or remove songs from it. Last month, Apple announced that this feature should appear sometime in 2024, although it was not yet clear exactly when.

Finally, iOS 17.3 adds the ability to stream content from the phone via AirPlay to televisions in hotel rooms. The TVs must have built-in support for this. This feature was originally supposed to appear last year, but became postponed until 2024 last December.
