Apple increases discount for returning developer version Mac mini with Arm-soc

Apple has increased the discount that developers receive when they return the Developer Transition Kit after criticism from developers. That’s a Mac Mini with Arm-soc that Apple distributed last summer. Developers now get $500 off an Arm Mac, instead of $200.

In addition, developers can redeem the code all year round and do not have to do so before May, according to an email that Apple sent to developers and that Steve Troughton-Smith published. Apple also confirms in the email that support for the DTK will end; macOS 11.2 will be the last version to appear for the hardware.

The move follows criticism from developers. It came after the first email, which revealed that developers were given a $200 discount code for returning. Developers had to pay $500 last summer to receive the Mac Mini with A12Z processor. The DTK was intended to give developers the opportunity to pre-prepare apps for Macs with Arm-socs. They appeared in November last year.
