Apple has released an update that should fix crashes that recently came to light. There is an issue in iOS that causes recurring reminders to crash, something that started exactly at 12:15 am on Saturday.

The rather notable bug has to do with a problem in the system to set reminders. Due to a bug in the software, recurring reminders from Saturday are causing crashes, something reported by a large number of iOS users this morning. It is not clear what exactly causes the problems, but it concerns version 11.1.2 of iOS that contains the error. Apple advises to turn off the notifications and then update the device to the newly released iOS 11.2.

The release of the update just a few hours after the issues started showing up is striking. The new iOS version is a relatively large update, with a number of new features, and not just a bug fix. This includes Apple Pay Cash, a p2p payment system that allows users to send each other money. The iPhone X and iPhone 8 should also be able to charge faster with the new software version via the wireless standard Qi.

The new iOS version further comes as no surprise. Apple released a beta of the software last month. It was a public beta, which was for developers to install.
