Summit Ridge, AMD’s new line of processors based on the new Zen architecture, may not be available until February 2017. A new high-end line of motherboards will also be available with the X370 chipset.

AMD previously claimed that the processors would be released as early as December 2016, but according to Benchlife, they won’t be on the market until February 2017. The processors are joined by a series of new high-end AM4 motherboards, which feature a new X370 chipset to complement the previously announced B350 and A320 chipsets. All AM4 boards will support ddr4 memory, pci-e 3.0, nvme, usb 3.1 gen 2 and sata express. What distinguishes the X370 motherboards from the other boards is not yet known.

The new chips are baked using the 14nm finfet process. During a demonstration, AMD showed in a Blender benchmark that an octacore Summit Ridge outperformed an octacore Broadwell-E processor from Intel, while both chips were clocked at the same speed. AMD already announced the Bristol Ridge APUs last week, which should be released in October. In 2017, the new Raven Ridge APUs should be available, which, like Summit Ridge, are produced at 14nm.
